According to the latest report from Hamptons, Londoners bought 73,950 homes worth £27.6bn outside the capital last year, the highest level in four years. While leaving London has been a natural progression for many, reaching life stage milestones and slower pace of life, the effects of lockdown and the need for space fuelled the need to move further away.

Jason Rishover, CEO of Heronslea Group comments: “Buying habits have changed beyond recognition since the pandemic struck. After three lockdowns and spending so much time at home our lifestyle needs have changed with rural areas and smaller towns appealing more than cities, and buyers now having gardens or terraces and extra space for working at home on the top of their list. Despite the challenges of last year, the housing market boomed and we bought, sold and moved like never before, with many taking advantage of the Stamp Duty holiday. We had a lot of interest and buyers from London, wanting to leave the capital.”

The developer has had a busy 12 months with developments selling fast. The Group’s flagship scheme in Central Bushey, Squires Park, one of the most exciting and exclusive village schemes to come to the area, is Heronslea’s fastest ever selling development, having only launched in autumn and now at 65% sold.

Jason continues: “Demand for quality new homes is thriving in and around Hertfordshire, with places like Bushey becoming sought-after, offering a rural and leafy feel it represents much better value for money than homes in London, so it is no surprise people are moving out of the capital to places like this since the pandemic started.”

Heronslea Group has a range of developments in Bushey and Radlett, with several new sites coming soon. For further information on Heronslea Group and its developments visit – www.heronslea.net.
